4th October 2K1 (22:05 GMT)

Ok I have finished testing the MaxSound Radio enhancements and have posted them on the Pak1 page.  Please remember these are not my sounds, just ones I found about the internet, but they pass my quality requirements for my own games of CS.  Credit goes to Redstorm entertainment for the Rainbow6/Rogue Spear games for them.

I'm still accepting submissions for "extra sounds"  for my "Best of the Rest" sound add-on for the MaxSound Pak, please mail me first, and I would prefer selected sounds, not whole sound paks please, and remember, not sounds I have already put in the MaxSound pak either :-).

1st October 2K1 (23:10 GMT)

Well things went better than planned with the release, despite a few problems updating the page and changing to my backup domain.  Any broken links that were reported have been fixed.  Now I have pretty much finished the Radio sound pak for the "best of the rest" releases, they are all Rainbow 6 style radio command and seem to suit CS VERY well.  These were obviously not done by me so I'm just repackaging them for you lot to get your grubby hands on, expect them in the next day or so.

The other sounds (not many at the moment) should be ready later this week, if any of you have a favorite sound that I haven't replaced/changed in my sound pak and think would be good for this then please mail me before sending the sound.

29th September 2K1 (16:40 GMT)

Well CS 1.3 is out, so here is the updated MaxSound Pak.  In addition to the sounds I mentioned last time, I have prepared some more, below are all the sounds changed or replaced in 1.3 Final;

Steyr Aug - Cleaner, repeats better

Auto Shotgun - Stronger bOOm

Glock Pistol - Completely replaced

C4 Explosive - Big Tweak

Getting hit with Kevlar on - Tweaked breathing

Scout Rifle - Shortened/Sharper

SG550 Semi Auto Rifle - Sounds more powerful

Mac10 SMG - Stronger, more defined and "feels" better

SG552 Assault Rifle - Sharper crack and sounds bigger

USP Pistol - Completely replaced

As usual the new pak is available in the Pak1 section, any comments etc, mail me on the address below.  I should be doing an update/add-on for the release of CS:Condition Zero, out early next year, so keep checking or mail me.

Also, I'm going to publish the "best of the rest" sounds on the site.  These are sounds by other people that I think are good enough to use on my machine alongside my own sounds.  I either couldn't better them or they are just right for the job, these will include radio sounds (mainly Rainbow 6) and miscellaneous sounds for the rest of the game.  Look for these during the next week.

2nd September 2K1 (12:30 GMT)

First off, if any of you have tried mailing me, you'd probably got bounced mail.  I'm working on fixing this ASAP, so in the meantime, use this address Dave@MaDMaXX.Demon.co.uk

Version 1.3 CS should be out soon with voice support and bug fixes,  to coincide with this, I'm releasing the MaxSound PAK Final edition.  It will include all the sounds that have made it popular so far with the added bonus of the following:-

Glock Pistol - Brand new

USP Pistol - Brand new

Sig 552 - Updated (even sharper)

Mac10 - Updated

C4 Explosion - Tweaked

Possibly Updated Steyr AUG

Not in the pack but new - Thunderclap for DE_Aztec, completely remade, much more rumble in the jungle, less lightning strike.

I really am struggling to find time nowadays for all these updates, and it doesn't help matters having to get the site updated through someone else (also reason why my primary email isn't working)  As a result the DOD pak is on hold (until I can be bothered playing it again)

Expect to see the new pak shortly after the 1.3 release.

16th July 2K1 (22:00 GMT)

Its been a while since I've updated but I haven't been laying idle.  I have two new sound PAK's in the works, one for Day of Defeat and the other, which I'm releasing now, for The Opera.  Its only in its beta stages and any feedback is appreciated.  Go to the PAK2 section to download it or click here

Most of the sounds replaced are small pistols, with a few of the large caliber ones and all the SMG's.  I will upload a list of changes soon.

Look for news on the DOD PAK soon.

17th March 2K1 (12:30 GMT)

Its been a bit of a longer wait than anticipated but its given me chance to add one more sound, an update to the Five-Seven firing.  Head on over to the Pak1 section for the brand spanking new release of the MaxSound pak.

Updates include the following:-

Sig 552 Rifle - Gave much needed initial "crack" to the shot

Ingram Mac 10 - Tried to "define" the sound a little more

A completely new C4 explosion

A "cosmetic" style update to the reload for the very under-rated Five-Seven

and of course the update to the firing of the Five-Seven (a bit more "oomph")

The reload sound heard when other people reload has been replaced as well, a little more detailed you might say.

also on the slightly more detailed front, the DE slide noise has been updated with my new "skills" (the old one was from way back when I started making this pak, over a year and a half ago now)

The ricochets also get updated slightly

and I have removed the heartbeat and replaced with a proper "grunt" when being hit.

In other news, I've been getting a lot of "tech support" questions about the CS Death pack, although a good pack, its not mine, I only make up most of the weapon sounds in the pack.  Of course there is only one place to get the "real" MaxSound Pak and that is right here (the death pack doesn't have ALL my sounds in it)

4th February 2K1 (16:00 GMT)

Apparently version 1.1 CS is nearly here (within a couple of weeks) so you should expect the update then, it has about 10 new/updated sounds in it.  Meanwhile I've seen a VERY nice Desert Eagle skin and model, looks bang on to the one used in The Matrix, it was also packaged with my sounds :-)

Its available on the PAK1 page with the rest of the gear.  Also I should have some more ambient sounds up later, probably after the 1.1 release.

Bonus Link = Sunset (View from the end of my garden)

 6th January 2K1 (17:40 GMT)

I've become bored doing nothing with the sound pak, so for the last few weeks I've been messing around with some things, so much so that I'm going to do another release, I will try and wait till CS 1.1 is released, but if its not in the next week or so then ill just release anyway.

I have done updates (significant in some cases) to the following sounds:-

Sig 552 Rifle - Gave much needed initial "crack" to the shot

Ingram Mac 10 - something similar to the Sig update

The ricochets also get updated

A completely new C4 explosion

A cosmetic style update to the reload for the very under-rated Five-seven

and I have removed the heartbeat and replaced with a proper "grunt" when being hit

If I can think of, and of course manage any more sounds then you will be told in due course, but you should expect these with in the next couple of weeks or so.

10th December 2K (6:50pm GMT)

With Counterstrike practically finished and no further updates, to the weapons at least, then I must do similar.  My sounds are more or less final and there is not much else to do with them, I will of course make updates as and when needed and to fix bugs etc.  However, as promised, I have made a new UMP 45 firing sound to replace the placeholder I put in the original version 1 release, this is available in the usual place

I will more than likely release a few more music replacements for the various maps that play it, I am of course open to some suggestions in that area.  But for now Ill leave you with version 1.0/2 of the MaxSound PAK.

19th November 2K (5:00pm GMT)

Ok here it is, the new version of the MaxSound Pak.  It has been updated for CS Retail version 1.0 and includes replacements/enhancements for the new weapons as well as old ones.  Confirmed sounds are as follows:-

AK47

Steyr TMP

Sig 552

Steyr AUG

Sig 550

H&K UMP

FN Five Seven

Various reloads and other related sounds have been updated/changed as well, full details of these can be found in the weapons table.

Download the new PAK from the Pak1 section

The backup file has been updated for the new changes as well, please bear in mind that I am still working on the H&K UMP because its a very hard one to get right.  The weapons seems not to fire consistently (perhaps because of its reduced ROF) but the one I have included is still an improvement on the original.

12th November 2K (12:35pm GMT)

Haven't been too busy recently (on the sound front) Real life has taken over recently, and as such I have only just noticed as of this morning that CS ver 1.0 Retail has been released.  I'm still downloading it now so I can't tell what the new sounds are like yet, but already I've had requests for a new FN pistol, which give me the impression its not good :-(

Because its been released I'm going to see if there is anything I can do to the new sounds, if needed, before I release the Retail patch.  It will also give me chance to work on the new AUG sound a little more, expect a release probably next weekend (don't hold me to that, real life has a habit of bringing up the unexpected)

22nd October 2K (11:50PM GMT)

I have decided to hold back the release of the update till version 1.0 of counterstrike is released, this should only be about a week or two max (fingers crossed) The reason for this is because I'm still trying to finish one of the sounds I had started, the new sounds that are confirmed are, AK47, Steyr TMP, and the SIG 552.  I am working on another/updated AUG Rifle, basically cleaning it up and trying to match it with the real thing.  Its nearly done and at least a releasable version will go out for the Retail CS ver 1.0

15th October 2K (6:30pm GMT)

Its been a while since I last updated, been trying to figure out what to do next.  With CS now coming out in the shops and finally out of beta status a lot of things will change, at least two new weapons as far as I know, we will see what sounds they receive at the end of this month beginning of next most likely.

Updates I have done to the sounds include a volume tweak to the de_aztec lightning, it sounded good, but was too loud before, that is now uploaded and can be found in the pak1 section.  Updates to the main sound pak will include a revised AK, a few people have been commenting on this having too much treble, that isn't the case, it was too little bass and people without bass boxes would suffer as a result, the changes I've now made to it mean its more defined as separate shots and the treble doesn't come through the same.  The Steyr TMP is heavily updated, along the same lines as the other silenced weapons, talking of which the silenced Colt M4a1 might get a slight tweak as well.  The Berettas get a slight tweak to, but you might not notice it unless you have good bass output.  The Sig552 also gets another tweak (think Ill be doing that forever)  All these updates will appear next weekend, to give you something before the new version of CS appears.

17th September 2K (1:00pm GMT)

As promised, here are the two environment sounds, one for cs_italy and the other for de_aztec.  cs_italy gets the opera music replaced by something more modern from the Offspring (the kids aren't alright) which loops correctly, and de_aztec gets the thunder clap replaced by a far more realistic one and rain gets added in as well so its sounds like its constantly raining.  Both files are available on the PAK1 page.

16th September 2K (3:00pm GMT)

Been a while since the last update, but I'm very busy and its annoying to release the Sig Rifle time and time again and decide shortly after the release that its not worthy.  I believe that that this one is correct (unless I get any serious complaints)

I have also updated the Scout after playing with bots and realising its not the pansy air rifle it used to be, it also helped getting someone else's sound for inspiration making my new one (DelaCroiX)

I have also added a new shell hitting the ground noise, very slight difference, but you can hear it.  Also feedback on the elite pistol fire, I have a version that has slightly less bass on the initial fire, its still has the punch that they should have but slightly less kick, I haven't put this sound in because on some peoples speaker system it can sound a little off, but you can download it here separately.

A new lightning strike sound should be available soon to replace the one in de-Aztec and a replacement for the opera in cs_italy will also be available (The kids aren't alright, loops correctly)

Here is the new version of the Max Sound Pak

27th August 2K (2:30pm GMT)

A new addition to the Counter-Strike section, first, and most importantly, Beta 7 of CS has been released, mirror lists are all over the place now.  Updates to the new sound pak include, another new Sig Rifle firing sound (I'm getting sick of correcting this) and the bolt action on the Sig rifle has been added, basically an enhanced version of Goosemans (his had a bass hum in it) also a new version of the Para m249, I'm happy with this now, very beefy.  The heavy breathing has been updated, lasts slightly longer, and the heart beat has been updated, though I might remove it because sometimes it doesn't play right, I would like peoples feedback on this please.  Also the new duel Beretta's, I wasn't going to replace the firing when I first heard it, but it had a bit too much bass, and it took me no time at all to come up with a heavy edit version which seems to suit them better, also added enhancements to the reload of them.  Details and other sounds are of course on the Weapons Table.  The new beta 7 MaxSound pak can be downloaded from the  PAK1 section.

19th August 2K (5:45pm GMT)

I now have full access to the site so there should be more updates from now on.  Expect an update to the sound pak when beta 7 is released (hopefully this coming week) including a heavily updated m249 machine gun sound, a huge improvement over the old one, also under certain circumstances the new Sig 552 sounds weird, so there will be a new version of that as well.

Also I have corrected the TFC Sound pak because a few of the sounds were causing runtime sample conversions and one wasn't playing at all because it was 16 bit.

23rd July 2K (5:00pm GMT)

I still don't have full access to the site yet so updates are few and far between, though I have been testing some new sounds.

The Mac-10 has been updated to sound cleaner

The Sig 552 Rifle has been heavily updated (this took most time)

The G3 SG1 Rifle has been removed because the original is better, and no one really uses it anyway

There is a slight tweak to the shotgun pump

The AK47 also gets an update

Heavy breathing can now be heard when struck on the vest (its not as obtrusive as you might think)

Slight heart beats can be heard when hit in the flesh (again, not as obtrusive as you might think)

All these new sounds are available in the 6/2 version of the pak which you can download from here

8th July 2K (10:05am GMT)

A new version of the MaxSound PAK is available with a lot of new and updated sounds for Beta 6.6 CS.  I have had this Pak available for a while now but the site has been down (some idiot unplugged the server and no one noticed) but it has allowed me to add more sounds and refine some others.  Check below and the weapons table for details.

Also, I have added a TFC sound pak of very high quality, to the PAK2 section

The main new sounds are:-

M249 Para Machine Gun - More "punch" (Replaced)

USP Tactical Pistol - Brand new silenced sound including "slide" noise (replaced) and Edited un-silenced sound

Colt M4a1 Assault Rifle - Brand new silenced sound (replaced) and Edited un-silenced sound.

Steyr AUG Assault Rifle - Cleaner, more appropriate for weapon (Replaced)

Sig 552 Commando Assault Rifle - Slightly less volume, too loud before (Replaced)

Tweaked Ricochet volumes (edited)

New Benelli M3 shotgun pump and fire, because quite frankly the one that it now comes with is pants

The weapons table has been updated to include the changes and the other new sounds.  Visit the PAK1 section to download the new release.

21st May 2K (17:28pm GMT)

Looks like the TFC 1.5 patch will be available next week, thus allowing version 6.5 of CS to be released, new features include new weapon models for the USP pistol, SIG Commando, Colt M4a1 and Benelli M3 shotgun, also these include new animations.  For the release I will be releasing new silenced sounds for the USP pistol and Colt M4a1 (I will work on un-silenced versions as and when they're needed) also I have tweaked the Aug sound and Ricochets.

In other news, Firearms 1.2 has been released and they have changed the format the files are stored in, meaning I can't release updated files as PAK's.

This being the case you would need to overwrite the existing files for mine to work, if anyone still wants Terminator II grenade launcher sounds and the shells hitting the floor, then mail me.

13th May 2K (17:25pm GMT)

I have made a small sound add-on for the newly released patch, Firearms, not quite Counter-Strike but very good non the less.

It only contains a few sounds, mainly for the grenade launcher (M79), it now sounds like the one in Terminator II, much better, also this slightly changes the M203 as well, the one on the marines rifle.  Shell casings hitting the floor are now much better and you can now hear the grenade launchers empty shell casings too.  I have taken down the non working crosshairs in order to place up the new PAK, so please go tot he PAK2 link for this new one.

6th May 2K (11:01am GMT)

Well, I've went away last weekend to Scotland, for a ride around (great roads) and have not had chance to update the site.  Several things have happened since I've been away, for I've become top of the list for the CS top 50 sites, now how did that happen, oh well, thanks you lot for voting for me :).  In other news I've just seen the new reloading and firing animations for the M4A1 and the M3 (colt rifle and pump shotgun) very slick I must say.  Gooseman actually states the M4A1 as unrealistic and slow?, hmm well having had a look at it, it certainly doesn't look bad, it may be incorrect but I can't tell ;-).

Regards the sounds, the M3 looks like it may have changed the reload time (when it pumps) if it has, this will stuff my sound up completely and Ill have to redo it :(

Well the expected release of the new coding and CS patch appears to be *just* under two weeks, which is nice, lets hope there is a snow map in it, I've heard the new snow footsteps, sweeeet.  Oh well cyaz all laterz, I'm off for a game, hopefully I should have some new sounds ready for the new 6.5 release

/me can't wait for the new net code

22nd April 2K (18:17pm GMT)

Interesting news on the Net patch and now to be version 6.5 of CS, Goose reports the new net code to be nothing short of brilliant, and has released new weapon models with a second fixed point on them for the shell ejections.  What this means is the shells will now appear to eject from the correct place on the gun, now, my theory is this, if he can now be bothered to do that, then the new net code must be good enough to let the shells fall to the ground from the guns (currently they disappear shortly after leaving the gun, to cut lag) this means the sound of lots of shells falling to the ground will fill the place, making it a more enjoyable firefight (trust me).

Anyway, rambling aside, I have updated the Sig Pistol firing to sound a little stronger, and a little more like its firing a .357 cal bullet (it fires magnum rounds), also I'm  working on making the Desert Eagle sound more like the one in The Matrix (cool film), mainly by making it shorter, this is also in the update.

Anyway, the new pak is available in the PAK1 Section, er, oh yeah, I've adjusted one of the ricochet sounds to :)

15Th April 2K (16:14pm GMT)

Oh well not much news for a while, its hard to do news for this sort of page, Anyway, I have now moved to a new server with a far better name, MaxSound.Far2cool.com part of the UKTFC and Far2Cool Faction network, Change your bookmarks there from now on, Thanks go to [F2C]Alvin for this.

Anyway, main things happening in the community at the moment, the next patch for Half-life is imminent and it has been confirmed that the new net code, based on that of TF II is going to be in it.  They say its now totally based on your graphics and CPU instead of your net connect.

Also Version 1.0 of Counterstrike is to be backed by Valve Software, to the extent that it will be included with a Half-life upgrade/patch.

err.... oh yeah about sounds and things, Beta7 of CS will have removable silencers for the USP and the M4A1, I will be working on the relevant sounds as necessary for the release.

19th Mar 2K (1:14pm GMT)

Dressed To Kill is a new site covering skins for weapons and player models amongst other things, they already have 1 Beta 6 compatible skin set up and the rest are being done as we speak, check out the link on the menu bar to your left.

19th Mar 2K

New version of the Sound Pak is available, now up to Version 6/4.  You can get it in the Pak1 Section.  It contains completely redone Steyr AUG, in much the same line as the original though totally new (I rapidly disliked my first one) and a tweaked ricochet, incorporating an edited version of the new one Gooseman implemented.  Also, by popular demand, as soon as I find out how to change the crosshairs, I will convert pak2 contents to b6 specifications.

18th Mar 2K

Ok you lot, here they are in full glory, Now available in the PAK: updated Mac-10, New Glock, New Steyr AUG.  Yeesh, this is getting too much like hard work :-{ I'm amazed I got either of the two extra sounds done in time, they just would not come together, then all of a sudden 9pm Friday, they just, popped in and both worked right within 5 minutes of each other, what a relief.

Get the NEW PAK in the Pak1 Section

For anyone that is interested, the Movie Die Hard contains the Steyr AUG rifle (it rocks :), also the weapons table has been updated.

12th Mar 2K

Good news, for those people that realised the Mac-10 didn't quite sound a like a Mac-10, I've finally got the *right* sound for it, it took far too much work and far too much time, but I think it was worth it.  In other news, I'm working on a new Glock and a new Aug sound, one or the other should be finished by next weekend, they, like the Uzi, are proving a little difficult to make :( but fear not, I will get it done, enjoy the new Mac-10, get the updated Pak file in the Pak1 Section

11th Mar 2K

Ok, generally I think Beta 6 is very good, good new sounds etc.  I have updated the sound pak to correct some problems that beta 6 caused and removed some sounds because b6 had better ones, if you downloaded the pak for b5 then please re download so it works correctly with b6  Expect an update either this weekend or next with a new glock pistol sound and a new Mac-10 sound, I still need to do more work on the mac-10 unfortunately.

11th Mar 2K

Well, first things first :) Counterstrike Beta 6 is out, as if you didn't know already, I will be updating the sound pak to make sure it is fully compatible with B6.  I will also include the new Sig rifle sound, as I have now fixed it ;-} Expect an update later on today with all the new features for b6.

5th Mar 2K

*UPDATE*

Oh well, having made the decision that the 20% cut in volume for the sig sounded ok, I've changed my mind :) I think it is weak sounding, I goofed and didn't make a backup but I can redo the file, though I'm now trying other modifications of the file, expect another update next weekend.

Well, I have been listening to a few comments about the sound pak and a couple of things have come to light, 1) that's cool, which is nice 2) the sig 552 is very loud, hmm, ok thinking about it maybe it is a little overcooked, but guns are meant to be loud, however, I have knocked 20% off the volume and it still sounds right, so that should help some people.

Also while I'm here, I have updated a couple of other sounds and added a new one for the auto shotgun, its not too different but it has a sharper edge, thus being more shot gunny, if you know what I mean :)  Other sounds have been added to the sound table, so check there for more details.

4th Mar 2k

Well, quite a few people seem to have visited the site since last week :).  Still waiting for the release of beta 6, though, thinking about it I might just record some original death sounds for the new release, maybe, I'm not sure yet, its embarrassing recording them ;).  Just a quick note, I say I want realism in my sounds, that doesn't always mean they are sampled from real weapons, but  they shouldn't sound like the new mega bass version of a bass bang with added bass, you get the idea.

26th Feb 2K

*UPDATE*

Oops, I hadn't uploaded the correct version of the zip format file, it contained and old version of the pack with no instructions and old sound designs :( everything updated now, the self installer is ok but if you got the zip version, please re-download sorry :-(

New page uploaded, Basic design courtesy of  [F2C]Maxpain, thanks m8, its much better than my other effort :-}.  Well, here's looking forward to beta 6, heh, can't wait to see what Gooseman has come up with for the Mac-10 sound :), Shouldn't be to hard, I do already have a perfect (I think) sound for the Mac-10 if its turns out bad, we'll see how it goes

Check back regularly for updates to the sound pak
