Instructions for getting the MaxSound PAK to work with CS 1.6 and CS:Source
The MaxSound pak works fine with CS 1.6, the only thing you need to change in the directory you install it to, your installation path should look something like this: c:\steam\steamapps\youremailaddress\counter-strike\cstrike
Make sure that you choose this path when installing the MaxSound pak and it should work fine.
I've also updated the pak to correct the weapon names, all the weapons should show on the menu as their correct names, e.g. the Desert Eagle is not called the Night Hawk.
The MaxSound pak also works with CS:Source, just use a slightly different directory to 1.6; Install to c:\steam\steamapps\youremailaddress\counter-strike source\cstrike\ and it should work as intended.
This pak
includes
all my sounds, all are my own creations/edited versions of Goosemans/Cliffe's original sounds.
My aim is realism, with fun, there is nothing silly in here, I don't like
unrealistic sounds, especially if it sounds wrong
History...
The reason for creating this sound pak are basically for my love of Counter-Strike for Half-Life. I have eagerly followed the progress of the mod since the release of the first beta, and oh man, what a beta, it was almost flawless (very surprising for a first beta) Anyway sounds were good and I was happy, though the first things I noticed was the quiet M249 sound, it was a good sound, though, didn't match the weapon, and as a result, few people used that weapon, I instantly set about trying to improve it, to more or less the state you find it in today, it wasn't that Cliffe had done a bad job, because, as with a lot of the other weapons, he constantly updated them too, and came up with a good one for the gun, though in my opinion, mine has the edge (surprise, surprise).
Anyway the main complaint I hear now days is the MP5 and the P90 sound like a big drum :( I have to agree, so I have replaced those two sounds as well as many others. A good percentage of his sounds are great but a few just need tweaking, like the USP and the TMP for example, too much bass for a silenced weapon, anyway, I will continue to support my sounds and even remove my sounds if Gooseman/Cliffe comes up with better ones than mine. So, kudos to Gooseman for an excellent extension of Half-life.
